About my artworks
I have been exhibiting my artworks in solo and group shows in Wellington, New Zealand, since 2005, but art has been a huge part of my life since my early 20s.

Figurative and abstract
My paintings fall into three broad categories:
- narrative figurative paintings which tell stories and explore the sacred feminine and relationships
- semi-abstract works which explore the borderline between realism and surrealism
- abstract works drawn from my imagination that play with shape, colour, line, tone and texture.
A love of stories and theatre
My interest in narrative art and expressionism stem from a long involvement in theatre and my love of stories and story telling.
My narrative works often have vibrant colours and dramatic lighting. They explore conflict in men and women’s relationships, women’s spiritual journeys, dreams and archetypes.
Exploring abstraction
Recently I have been exploring abstract expressionism, in the style of American artists like Jackson Pollack – using wet paint that is dripped, poured, flung and brushed onto the surface with big gestures and free abandon.
As an artist you never stop studying and learning and I continue to attend recreational classes, visit galleries and talk to other artists to learn from them.
My studio

I live at Paraparaumu Beach where I have a home studio called Studio Dee. For many years I rented a studio with other artists at Toi Poneke Arts Centre in central Wellington.
If you are interested in buying any of my works and live elsewhere in New Zealand, or even overseas, I am happy to arrange shipping and advise you of the cost.
Some of my artworks can be ordered as limited edition digital prints on German Etching paper as well. If you would like to know about costs and postage click on the Enquire about this work button.
A change of surname
You may notice on this website that some of my artworks are signed ‘Dee Guja’. That was my previous married name but for many years now I have gone back to my maiden name of Warring.
