The second in the Cage series, The Chase is about power games between men and women and the circular dance where the hunter/seducer becomes the hunted/seduced. The cage motif symbolises relationship entrapment, particularly how women can feel disempowered and isolated in marriage.

This painting won the Inverlochy Art School overall painting award in their 2004 annual exhibition. One of the judges, the head of arts at Whitireia Polytechnic, told me I must keep painting bold works like this.
