About my artworks

I have been exhibiting my artworks in solo and group shows in Wellington, New Zealand, since 2005, but art has been a huge part of my life since my early 20s.

Figurative and abstract

My paintings fall into three broad genres:

  • narrative figurative paintings which tell stories about people and explore the sacred
    feminine, life journeys and relationships

  • abstract works which explore shape, line, colour and texture

  • landscapes, either inspired by photographs or drawn from my imagination and memory.

A love of stories and theatre

My interest in narrative figurative art stem from a long involvement in theatre and my love of stories and storytelling. My narrative works often have vibrant colours and dramatic lighting. They explore conflict in men and women’s relationships, women’s spiritual journeys, dreams and archetypes.

Exploring abstraction

Increasingly, I am creating more abstract works that are surreal, dreamlike, ambiguous. I like exploring the different ways paint can be applied to surfaces – eg, using wet paint that is dripped, poured, flung or brushed onto the surface with big gestures and free abandon.

My studio

I live at Paraparaumu Beach north of New Zealand’s capital city Wellington. I have a home studio called Studio Dee which is open by appointment. Send me a message via Facebook, Instagram or via the contact form on this website if you would like to visit me. Each year in November my studio is open to the public during the Kapiti Art Trail weekends.

All my art is for sale, unless marked as sold or in my own collection, and most can also be ordered as fine art prints - either from Art Collective New Zealand, or directly from me. I can arrange shipping and will let you know the cost. Send me an enquiry via my contact form to know more.
