Ghost City

Originally titled She remembered Chenobyl in winter, this painting was inspired by watching a documentary about the Russian site of one of the world’s worst nuclear disasters. I wanted to convey a mood of desolation and emptiness. I painted the buildings to look like rusty old cans and to be deliberately ambiguous.
